Map Overview of the Blackstaff Tower Main Tower Floor 4
I am releasing a new free virtual tabletop and printable map of the Blackstaff Tower Main Tower Floor 4 in the Forgotten Realms.
Map Location Numbering
As part of the Blackstaff Tower Main Tower Floor 4 map download files, there is a Dungeon Master’s (DM) map with numbers on it that correspond to the building and room descriptions below:
- Main Tower: This is the main tower where residences, laboratories, and other rooms exist. The inside is bigger on the inside. This floor is for storing rare items and some extracurricular activities.
- Hallway 1: This circular hallway leads to three rooms. Each door is locked, warded, and trapped both magically and physically to protect the special items in the adjoining rooms.
- Legendary Items Room: This room contains three legendary items on pedestals. Each item is under glass that is warded and trapped to keep anyone from these objects. The items were collected by Khelben or Laeral on their adventures.
- Rare Item Display Room: This room contains display cases for rare magical items that Khelben or Laeral collected on their travels and want to display for others to appreciate.
- Protection Room: Khelben stores magical items of protection in this room. There is a secret door in the back to a larger armory.
- Magical Armory: This room contains common magical weapons for use in adventuring and defending the tower by non-wizards.
- Treasury: This room holds a portion of the physical wealth used by the members of Blackstaff Tower to purchase anything they need.
- Hallway 2: This rectangular hallway connects to three rooms. The north and south doors are locked and warded, but the east door is unlocked.
- Scrying Room: This room is used to practice scrying by the wizards of Blackstaff Tower.
- Golem Rooms: Each of these rooms contains Golems that are released to protect any attached rooms if the wards are triggered for the room.
- Wizard Items Room: This room contains magical items useful to wizards like staves and enchanted orbs.
- Enchanted Armor Room: This room stores common enchanted armor that Khelben or Laeral have picked up in their adventuring.
- Painting Room: Members of the Blackstaff Tower use this room to paint as the fancy strikes them. Each mirror is enchanted to allow them to scry to different locations to paint.
- Hallway 3: This rectangular hallway connects to three rooms. Each door is locked, warded, and trapped both magically and physically to protect the special items in the adjoining rooms.
- Potion and Spell Components Room: This room is used to store potions and spell components that don’t fit in other rooms of the tower. Often these are more rare and precious components and potions.
- Adventuring Items Room: This room stores magical items the members of Blackstaff Tower commonly use when traveling and adventuring.
- Hallway 4: This rectangular hallway connects to three rooms. The north and south doors are locked and warded, but the west door is unlocked.
- Very Rare Items Room: This room displays very rare magical items that Khelben has gathered and is willing to show to others. Each item is protected under warded and trapped glass cases.
- Dangerous Items Room: The items in this room are highly dangerous to the user and the world. It is likely that most are evil and sentient.
- Skull of the Lich: This room contains the skull of some very evil lich. Kheleben and Laeral store it here to make sure the Lich never rises again.
- Stairwell: The stairwell leads to the second floor below and the third floor above.
Map Options
Each map of the Blackstaff Tower Main Tower Floor 4 is 20 X 20 squares and without lighting because most VTTs support adding lighting to a map. I create several versions of each map based on whether it is a city or terrain map. I create summer and winter versions of city maps and grass, sand, snow, and forest versions for terrain maps where it makes sense.
I have created several map variant combinations from the original maps and grouped them into 7zip files for download below. I first group the download links by file extension; currently, I export maps into the WEBP and PDF file formats. I then group the WEBP downloads by the audience (dungeon master or players), grid type (with and without), and color contrast/brightness (original and high contrast). I group the PDF downloads using the WEBP groups and these other PDF groups and page size (Letter for US and A4 for EU) and border (small 0.25-inch border or no border).
File Downloads
Below are the various 7zip files for download. Each file contains either image or PDF map files. You will need 7zip to extract the images or PDFs.
